Strengthening of Forensic Science Laboratories

Looking into the necessity of prompt and safe collection of evidences, the State Government has given special importance in the modernisation scheme for strengthening Forensic Labs. Mobile Forensic Van have been provided to all eight zones of Lucknow, Agra, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Varanasi, Meerut and Bareilly. In all these forensic vans the services of specialists have been provided and ultra modern techniques like the facility of primary (experiment) investigation of blood sperm, explosives, narcotics, firearms, micro chemical etc. are made available. The extension of this scheme in the remaining 67 districts of the state will be done in the next phase.

At present,State of art Forensic Labs have been setup in the state capital Lucknow, Agra and Varanasi.

Besides the labs in Agra, Varanasi and Lucknow, new forensic labs are being constructed in Moradabad. The State Government is planning the phase wise construction of Forensic Labs in various divisional head quarters. These labs will be soon established in Kannauj district (Kanpur zone) and in Ghaziabad (Meerut zone).
