About Home Department

The Home Department is responsible for taking policy decisions related to the enforcement of Law & Order and police activities, preparation of the budget and allocation of funds after approval from the Legislature, referring cases to CID, if required. They also play a major role in decision making of prosecution against the guilty, providing extension of limit for Arms Licenses, monitoring the cases received from the National Human Rights Commission, executing the work related to the State Human Rights Commission, answering the questions in the Vidhan Sabha/Legislative Council, coordinating with the Government of India for police related matters.

Also, it is responsible for the security arrangements of citizens, VIPs, dignitaries, State Guests and important Establishments.
